Different kinds of Diamond Cuts for your wedding ring

Your wedding is one of the most joyous days of your life and it calls for a celebration. But before the party gets started, why don't you make the day even more memorable by exchanging a diamond ring with your partner? After all, it's a well known fact that "Diamonds are Forever!" and hence have a symbolic meaning on your wedding day.

Picking a wedding ring from the vast range of choices set forth is a paramount task. If you've already set your mind on a diamond ring, this article is going to be immensely helpful as it explains the different kinds of cuts you could ask for.

The 4 C's to check out

If you've shopped for diamonds before you're probably already familiar with the 4 C's that you need to keep in mind, namely:
  1. Cut
  2. Colour
  3. Clarity
  4. Carat
A diamond cutter is trained to cut the raw diamond into smaller pieces and shape it so that it can be polished easily and sparkle with brilliance. Without further adieu, let's just look at the various cuts you could ask for when you're out shopping for a diamond ring:

  •  Round Cut: This cut is the most common of them all, probably around 75% of all the diamonds cut are in this form. It's said to bring out the shine in a diamond and consists of 58 facets.
  • Emerald Cut: If you're trying to stress on the clarity of a stone, you'd go in for the emerald cut. It's basically rectangular in shape. But, since the number of facets are far fewer every defect would be easily seen. Therefore, it's only used for near perfect stones.
  • Heart Shape Cut: This isn't easy to craft and you would need a professional craftsmen to get it done. It symbolizes love and would be a perfect choice for your wedding ring.
  • Asscher Cut: It's more of a 70's style of cut, but still looks radiant and good on some. Give it a try, they can be stunning on some hands (At times called the Square Emerald).
  • Radiant Cut: The radiant cut is another popular choice that combines the round cut with the emerald cut.
  • Princess Cut: Coming second only to the round cut, this cut is popularly seen in solitaire rings.
  • Marquise Cut: This cut is kind of like a tear drop and looks good on necklaces. Don't let that stop you, check out the rings that have these diamonds - they're jaw dropping!
There are plenty of other cuts available as well, but the most prominent ones are listed above. Picking a shape depends on your personal taste. Since your partner is going to be wearing it for the rest of their lives, it would be wise to ask them to pick the ring (Just a helpful suggestion).

NOTE: If you're opting for a diamond studded ring, you would be best off buying one that incorporates round cut diamonds.
